If I had to sum up a day in my life as an indie author in three words, it would be: imagination, publisher, and hustle. It's as simple—and as terrifying—as that. But what does that actually look like?

A typical day for me involves a whirlwind of writing and editing, advertising and marketing, engaging with readers across different platforms, tackling admin, and, of course, pure creativity. What's more terrifying? More often than not, all of this is done on the very same day. While traditionally published authors have entire teams managing these many aspects, as an indie author, every step of the journey—from a story's conception to it landing in your hands—requires a lot more work than one might think.

The whole magical operation is managed by one person: me.

In summary, my day is an eclectic mix of conjuring creativity and running a self-publishing business. But at the heart of it all, it's my love and passion for storytelling that leads the way, guiding me to connect with readers like you.

Until next week,

Stay magical,

R.L. Wood
