Cheers to the crazy!!!
As the title states, shamefully, found myself arguing in the supermarket again. Thankfully, not out loud - but in my head, although I'm sure the far away look and facial expressions I must of been pulling while pushing my daughter around the supermarket in the trolly - looked, well, I'll be honest, freaky!!
It's Markus, again! That damn antagonist of a character is forcing me to do so many re-writes of his scenes; that I honestly have had thoughts of just deleting him altogether and just writing a new antagonist instead.
Markus has been the most complicated character to create - because his back story, and why he has done (trying not to give too much away in case someone hasn't gotten that far into the journey, yet!) what he has, is not only complicated without going to much into his childhood backstory and unintentionally or maybe intentionally - I'm not sure which one it would have been, taking away from the essence of Phoenix's journey; however, giving away just enough so the reader is not only aware and understands why Markus has done as he has, but... agree or disagree, understands his reasoning as to the steps that led Markus to act as he has.
I knew I didn't want him to just be the bad guy simply because he is written that way (although, granted - he is), but I wanted him to be the antagonist that many could say to themselves, I get it! I may not have done what he has - but I see why he has. So, yeah, I get it!
Oh, the arguments with Markus... Well... he certainly is a character that
can runaway with itself, and every now and again, I have to be like a stern parent, be strict, argue back against where the character of Markus is going, and keep, relatively, to the script I have for him - which sometimes, can be, impossible!
