Flat 47

For over twenty years, I have worked within the world of domestic and sexual violence. It has been a privilege to enter people's lives at their most vulnerable, supporting countless individuals and children from merely surviving to truly thriving. That trust - that ability to help rebuild a shattered life, is, and will always be, the most humbling aspect of my career.

In my opinion, the third sector does not have a bright enough light shone on it. We acknowledge this world exists only in fleeting moments - when a story briefly dominates the news, or when a public figure is tragically affected. But what about the victims not known by the wider community? Their stories are not heard; the light is not shone.

This is why I wrote Flat 47: to shine the biggest, brightest light on a world that is hidden in plain sight.

My goal for this book is simple: for everyone to know this world exists. The reality is that this darkness is often much closer than we care to admit. Sometimes, all it takes is reaching out and helping someone who is unable to help themselves - and that is the core message demonstrated in this story.
